Early spring, in this year, I could eat 'hotddog' at Namdaemun shijang(market). It is very popular because of its' low price and good taste, especially at cold weather.
This hotddog is stuffed with honey(brown sugar and nuts), vegetable or seafood. At this photo, there are two stainless steel containers. Left one is vegetable and the other one is seafood(why red? cause the chef mixed it with gochugaru-hot spice.).
I bought six hotddogs and brought them home(where is the remainings? my husband and I ate them at that place immediately. yum~:)). They look like donuts or croquettes.
Let's cut them in half. We can see the stuffing-honey hotddog, seafood one and vegetable one.
They are very chaeap and tasty. Try it, If you have any chance to come to Seoul and visit Namdaemun Market. You won't regret it.
how much?
Honey(sugar and nuts), Vegetable ; 1,000won
Seafood ; 1,500won
where is the shop?
The origin of hotddog(호떡;ho-ddog) is not known exactly, but 'ho' means 'Chinese' so people guess it was from China a long time ago. Some people say, it's from Persia. But who knows it? Just a guess.
